Today I went for one last visit to the beloved Coney Island with Prink, her sister Meg, Nicole, and Elif. We did not brave the cyclone, but we did visit many of the attractions that are soon to be lost to hi-rise waterfront condos**shakes fist in air** no one or their rich grandmother will ever be able to afford. So we went down to see the freak show, have a hot dog, and one more walk on the boardwalk.
We had a great time rubbing Nicole's belly and feeding her funnel cake and fried clams. She attacked this massive caramel apple, and then tried to paw it off on the rest of us when she got tired of the sugar. This baby will surely grow up to be a carney. Oh, and at one point in the afternoon a seagull pooped on my head, I'll spare you pictures of that, thank you. I know this is supossed to be good luck, but really, when a bird shits on you, it's not luck at all.
And I finally have an FO to show! Mike and Rachel, another set of parents-to-be, had their shower on saturday. I presented them with a baby blanket
Rachel is due at the end of October, so this winter baby will need lots of warm things for the winter. This is actually not only my first log cabin blanket, it's also my first baby blanket. I ended up crocheting a boarder, and then tacking some chocolate colored velour onto the back. I didn't get to snag a photo, but the back looks very quilt-y. I ended up tacking down the backing fabric with quilting knots: decorative and functional. This blanket is acrylic so it'll stand lots of spit-up, tears, washings, and long car rides. I hope their baby boy will enjoy it.
